British thrashers SAVAGE MESSIAH have signed a worldwide, multi-album deal with Earache Records.
Formed in London, England in 2007, SAVAGE MESSIAH self-released their debut album, SPITTING VENOM, in 2007 to positive reviews. In 2009 the band entered the studio with acclaimed Grammy-nominated producer CHRIS TSANGARIDES (JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH, THIN LIZZY, BRUCE DICKINSON) to record their second album, INSURRECTION RISING. The album was mixed by SCOTT ATKINS (GAMA BOMB, SYLOSIS, IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION). The band is currently working on its third album, due to be released on Earache Records in 2011.
SAVAGE MESSIAH bassist SASHA CRON comments:
"We are very proud and excited to sign with Earache Records. This is an exciting time for Savage Messiah as we are currently writing our new album, and hope to be on tour soon to present the new material. "We would like to thank everybody at Earache for this fantastic opportunity, and we are really looking forward to getting out and thrashing with the fans!"
Last night, August 11th 2010, the American Carnage Tour featuring Megadeth and Slayer, with special guests Testament pulled in to Glens Falls NY on the very first stop of the tour.
Glens Falls Civic Center is a unique concert going experience, they kick things off early with a Civic Center Block Party, where they welcome the fans to come out early, hang out at the venue and give them a healthy dose of, on this night at least more metal (did I mention they serve beer outside to 21+ as well?).
On this night American Carnage was kicked off with Binghamton NY's Elevator Death Squad. After blowing a circuit in the middle of their very first song of the evening, they proceeded to shred through a nearly 2 hour set, priming the fans for what was to come....
Inside Testament took the stage and wasted no time whipping the crowd into a frenzy, they were tight, and as always, Vocalist Chuck Billy showed why he's enjoyed longevity in this business, he's like a big kid on stage, smiling, and playing "air guitar" on his mic stand. Unlike Megadeth and Slayer, Testament on this tour chooses to showcase songs from their lengthy discography, and that's just what they did, my highlight of the set was the song that grabbed hold of me and made me a life long Testament fan, "Into the Pit".
Next: Enter Megadeth. I have heard some recent negativity towards Megadeth (Mustaines vocals to be exact) from people who had viewed "The Big Four". I can tell you that on August 11th, this was not the case. Mustaine sounded as he has in years past, a singer? not really, but it was vintage Dave at the mic. Musically Megadeth were flawless, belting out the "Rust in Peace" album in it's entirety, if you'd closed your eyes, you'd think you were in 1990 all over again. They finished off with "Head Crusher" from their latest album "End Game". It was great if not a little strange to see Dave Ellefson back for this tour, and Chris Broderick is easily one of the most under-rated metal guitarists in the universe. A great performance all the way around.
And what can I say? The time had come.....SLAYER was ready to give Glens Falls NY the finishing blow. With the stage covered by a white curtain, displaying projected imagry, Slayer took the stage. Opening with "World Painted Blood", "Hate Worldwide" and then begining the "Abyss" set with one of my personal Favs, "War Ensamble" they continued to relentlessly pound out the entire "Seasons In The Abyss" album, including fan favorites like "Dead skin Mask". Slayer were, as always, at the top of their game. The set also included of course, "Raining Blood", "South of Heaven" and "Angel of Death".
All in all, a great night, at an extremely fan friendly and hospitable venue. If you have any opportunity at all to see a stop on this tour, don't miss it.
A photo album of all the pictures from the show will be available very soon on site, until then you can find most of them here
Behemoth has posted the music video online for "Alas, Lord Is Upon Me," which can be viewed below. The clip was produced and directed by Rafal Szermanowicz and Grupa 13 who also shot Behemoth’s videos for "Ov Fire and the Void" and "At the left hand ov God." Nergal commented on the new video:
"First of all, we’ve overcome ourselves with this new video clip. Period. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time. Pretty much no digital intervention, no blue boxes, no fake shit this time, but great filming, good acting, and a fuckin’ awesome storyline. It’s disturbing, crazy, and evil. We’ve had over 70 people working for us on this video so we can easily say it was the biggest production so far. I’m beyond excited! Wait and see…"
Dariusz Szermanowicz of Grupa #13 adds: "This time we decided to make something different. We'd like to make video in ‘cinematic’ style without so many VFX like in last two videos. We found great location, we had dozen of actors and extras and awesome stylizing. During the 16 hours of hard work we've created amazingly killer video!”
