I can’t say I know why Primus made the decision to come together again (although, I have heard rumors of a new album), but I will be eternally thankful. As a rather obsessed fan that is a bit too young to have really known their heyday, this tour has been an absolute dream come true.
August 15th saw the end of the US leg of Primus’ 2010 tour. The appearance and support of Wolfmother for this particular show on the tour made the concert a little unique; Primus’ support bands for the rest of the tour included Gogol Bordello and the Dead Kenny G’s.
The Santa Barbara Bowl is a beautiful venue; it’s large for a Primus show, but a far cry from other stadiums that I had been to (Irvine, Glen Helen, etc.). That being said, the experience of going to the Bowl was a bit of a pleasant aberration. First of all, the event staff is made up of volunteering senior citizens who are kind enough to not only direct me to my seat, but also to pull my seat down for me. Definitely not what I expected from a city steeped in beach culture, party schools, and reefer. My only real complaint about this venue is how tame it is. The shows, a local friend told me, typically start early and end early, as residential homes are less than a mile away from the theater. No moshing is allowed and no crowd surfing is allowed (although, that definitely didn’t stop certain people).
Wolfmother began their set at about 6:30 that evening. I’m not a huge fan of the band, but I can’t say anything bad about them! They really brought energy to the show and the crowd loved them. Their set list included their big hit, “Woman,” a Doors cover (“Riders on the Storm”), “Dimension” off of their debut album, a new one called “Cosmis Egg,” and a cover of the Who’s “Baba O’Reily” that damn near brought a tear to my eye. Wolfmother’s set met with a huge audience response and they left the stage after an hour.
Primus’ stage set up has always been, I believe, something on the minimal side (although, when compared to stadium filling acts like Iron Maiden, Heaven and Hell, etc. one would be hard-pressed to find a stage that didn’t seem minimal…); this tour gives us two giant inflatable astronauts with music videos and other footage projected on to their helmet visors.
Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of California’s MURDER CONSTRUCT.
MURDER CONSTRUCT features Travis Ryan (CATTLE DECAPITATION) on vocals, Leon del Muerte (EXHUMED, PHOBIA, IMPALED) on guitar and vocals, Kevin Fetus (FETUS EATERS, WATCH ME BURN) on guitar, Danny Walker (INTRONAUT, EXHUMED, UPHILL BATTLE) on drums, and Caleb Schneider (BAD ACID TRIP) on bass. The band has recorded a seven-song EP that will see its release this fall.
MURDER CONSTRUCT’s del Muerte commented on the EP; “Finally this goddamned release sees the light of day! Nearly 10 years (and countless bands, musicians and black-out beer-drunks in between) and our friendly collaboration between Southern California's worst will be out with our longtime homeslices, Relapse. This is just a taste of nastiness we have planned for our full length!"
MURDER CONSTRUCT will team-up with VENOMOUS CONCEPT and KILL THE CLIENT for a handful of California dates in mid-September. The band will also be performing in Tijuana, Mexico and Boyle Heights, CA this coming weekend. A listing of confirmed MURDER CONSTRUCT tour dates can be found below with more to be announced soon.

British death metal act IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION have been forced to cancel their headlining European tour with Detroit deathcore destroyers AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH after the bands' tour van crashed.
After a strong start to the tour, a few of the shows in mainland Europe fell through with promoters, so the bands had decided to head back to the UK to continue with the tour there and add some more shows.
Whilst driving through France on their way back to Calais, the van carrying the members of both IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION and AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH was involved in a crash on the motorway. All members are thankfully alive and well, although some had to be taken to hospital for injuries such as broken bones.
