INCANTATION: Announce ‘Onward To Golgotha’ Hall Of Fame Shows
Written by Plague
Tuesday, 24 August 2010 11:54

IncantationThe legendary death metal band INCANTATION has announced a handful of special shows performing their classic debut full-length Onward To Golgotha in its entirety. A listing of confirmed tour dates and cities can be found below.

The special Onward To Golgotha dates are presented by Decibel Magazine, who inducted the album into their ‘Hall Of Fame’ in issue #52 (February 2009). Originally released in 1991, Onward To Golgotha redefined the bounds of brutality and blasphemy for death metal and has long been heralded as one of the heaviest and most uncompromising metal albums in the world.

Decibel also named Onward… as one of the 20 best death metal albums of all time as well as one of the most important records in the genre.

Relapse Records will release a limited ‘Hall of Fame’ edition LP of Onward To Golgotha for these dates. The deluxe edition will be strictly limited to one pressing of 1,000 copies on colored vinyl and include an embroidered INCANTATION Onward To Golgotha patch and sticker. Additional release information will be posted via Relapse.com shortly.

Order of EnneadFlorida death metallers, ORDER OF ENNEAD are very excited to soon be hitting the road with HATE ETERNAL, CANNABIS CORPSE, WORMROT and others in support of their latest release, AN EXAMINATION OF BEING.

The band's existential style and highly technical musicianship are best experienced in a live setting where the true spirit of their
material is best felt.

Guitarist/vocalist, Kevin Quirion had this to say about the tour:

"We're glad to be back on the road and can't wait to play these songs from the new album. It's a killer set and by the end you'll be questioning your existence."

Cover ArtTrack List:

1 Goat Command
2 Grave
3 Deeper Dungeons
4 Blood Of The Pentagram
5 Necromance
6 Brought Before The Altar
7 Infernal Devilry
8 Lycanthropic
9 Hordes Of Hell
10 Two Coins For Charon
11 In Praise Of Evil
12 The Sign Of A Dark Destiny

Gravewurm, who has had a strong presence in the metal underground scene for 20 years is back with some of the most vile, most evil sounding metal out there.  Their sixth  full length release entitled "Blood of the Pentagram" combines doom and death metal to take you on a hypnotic journey through hell.  The raspy demon-like vocals combined with the down tuned heavy guitar riffs create the evil ambiance.  The slower minimalist drums and heavy bass give the album it's dark feel.

A bit of Black Sabbath influence is heard on the song "Deeper Dungeons". The guitar work is low, heavy, and strong.  The vocals are infused with hot demon breath.  They really show their doom side on this song. However, at times the way he presents his vocals gets rather tiring.  It almost sounds as if he is straining to over-do the "scariness" of the album.  A more relaxed feel on the vocals would serve nicely when coupled with the doom metal feel of the music.
